It took about 14 days, s،ing on September 14, 2023, and completing today on September 28, 2023. This update really went after SEO-first content, which is why the SEO community is so heated about this specific update.

Debugging drops in Google Search traffic

A drop in ،ic Search traffic can happen for several reasons, and most of them can be reversed. It may not be straightforward to understand what exactly happened to your site; to investigate the reasons for a drop in Search traffic, you can use the Search Console Performance report and Google Trends.

Google introduces Google-Extended to let you block Bard, Vertex AI via robots.txt

You can now prevent Bard and VertexAI from from accessing your website, or parts of it, by blocking Google-Extended in robots.txt.

Google’s Gary Illyes said people overestimate the importance of links, saying they haven’t been a top 3 ranking factor for some time.

#2: Google not going to stop giving Advice To SEOs Despite Some Creating Made For Google Sites

Google’s John Mueller defends Google’s position of helping SEOs by providing do،entation, video content, and responses to questions on multiple channels. This comes after some are upset that Google is targeting content and websites that are overly SEOed, such as with the last helpful content update, based on that feedback.

It is somewhat amusing that made-for-Google content has become an issue at Google, as if y’all weren’t the primary driving force.

While I agree, a little self-reflection wouldn’t hurt.

Gary Illyes from the Google Search team said at PubCon that comments sections on websites can be a good thing. This messaging is on target with what Google has said about comments sections in the past, ،uming the comments are useful and not filled with spam – they can be a good thing.

Comments can be good, but from a site owners perspective they can be a freaking nightmare. If you want comments, bring them back. @met،de #pubcon
